2 page 1848-1890 rules

This is a set inspired by the Pz8 WW1 Divisional rules, made by another wargamer. Each unit is a Brigade and the rules use a square grid. They are very nice!

The rules (pdf) and a Perryville 1862 scenario (.doc) that I made and gamed with cardboard counters...

Yay! A little of my work, a little of Mr Pz8's.

Re: 2 page 1848-1890 rules

I'd like to try out these rules.  I'm thinking of doing something similar to the games Baccus did at shows using a 4'x4' gridded table, such as the "Gettysburg Gallop" ( https://www.baccus6mm.com/includes/projects/Gettysburg/gburg.php ).

Anyway - in reading over the rules, do the units need to be facing a specific side of the square?  I ask since there are modifiers for flank and rear attacks.  Of course, you still don't need facing to have a flank or rear attack (example: if you attack from only 1 square it's a frontal attack, if you attack from 2 squares which are 90 degrees apart it's a flank attack, etc...) but still, I'd like to know how the author(s) play it...

The facing in the square isn't important.
The bonuses are for being in the squares to the flank or rear of the unit they're attacking.

-------Attacker---------
Flank--Defender--Flank
--------Rear------------

Instead of squares for movement what do people normally use in inches or cm?

Expecting HR ACW soon, which is why I ask.

I think that the rules really need the use of some grid... but you don't need to phisically draw it on the table. You can use some peebles, or lichen, or some other way to indicate the corners of the squares, on a standard wargaming table or cloth. ---Pz8

They are designed around using squares, I can't see how they'd work for normal measurements.
