if it looks like shutting down (and I haven' t seen any sign of that other than server consolidation which is something altogether different), I'll take a backup and put the forum up on a host elsewhere.
The software is free.

We can parse the backup and upload it as a static site archive or wikipages and talk on that. (with a supplementary mailing list)
The message traffic is so low that a wiki is a good fit.
Reddit is a streamed forum and doesn't allow topic hierarchies, I think a "forum"/wiki/mailing list model works better. my 2c
