The Pz8 Ultra Simple Postcard Sized WW2 Infantry Skirmish Wargame Rules

This is the latest of my projects... a simple set of WW2 skirmish rules that fits on the back of a postcard.

I did not playtested it in deep but my first 2-3 games were nice and fun... I used good old Airfix (Japanese vs US Marines or 8th Army) on my kitchen table... the random initiative system works well also for solo games.

I quit playtesting in April this year but I hope i will resume it... in the meantime, if you have ideas or suggestions, just send a message

here is the pdf

Your skirmish rules seem to have an old school feel about them.  I like them as I like all of Pz8.

Hi,
Are you thinking to add any Vehicles and Tanks rules?

Yes, after I playtest better the infantry rules... but at the moment I am not gaming at all. If someone wants to work out some simple rules for tanks, just tell...

Hi! I made an armor version of the Ultra simple rules and was able
to play-test them with a group last night. Went over very well. I'd be happy to email
them to you or whatever to see if you deem them worthy of joining
the Pz8 family.

Hi Vandal. I'd love a copy of your rules for the armor. The rules for infantry posted by Panzer8 above seems pretty cool.

Thanks for your interest. You can find my rules here:

I got to use these at a convention for a 4 player game and everyone enjoyed them.

I found this set of rules about a year ago and have had great fun with them, playing probably around 30 games. Whilst Ultra Simple, the 'activation' system creates a lot of decisions to make. The rules themselves can be very fast paced - giving quite a cinematic feel to a game. We have some very experienced players at the club who really enjoy them.

Hi ColonelT. The infantry skirmish rules ARE really cool. You need to play them a few times to pick out the subtlety. The reality is - you end up NEEDING to make decisions like a squad platoon commander and the action can be very quick. This is entirely down to the 'activation' mechanic.

Glad that you liked them! The D6 = 2+ mechanism is not mine, I grabbed it from a blog article. But I just wanted to make the shortest WW2 skirmish rules in the world :) I think the basic principle could work for other settings (old west? sci-fi?)... cheers!

I need to give those a try.
As usual, for something other than intended.
I have a bunch of 6mm Celts I was going to use for some cattle stealing games - they could do for this!

Hi. I saw the blog article which lead me to the Pz8 rules. They may be the shortest, but the movement mechanism makes the interesting.

I think they would work really well for any period, by just listing other weapons. The ScIFi version - Flashburn, has a nice 'prefered' action mechanism which is nice.
